Behind The Scenes:

Leader: Morgan Mueller

"In the process of completing this project, I learned a lot of new information about Alzheimer's and Dementia in general that I did not know before. Honestly, I have never known how to interact with people who suffer from Alzheimer's or other forms of Dementia well, and when put into those situations I have stood around confused. Learning about good ways to communicate with these people has given me more confidence for these future scenarios and the activities gave hands-on insight on these things."

Researcher: Lee Freeman

"This project has taught me that even when communication seems impossible there is still a way for people to communicate through creative means. This project helped me understand that the sender’s responsibilities is just as important as the receivers when it comes to effective communication. I can use this information outside of class when typical means of communicating seem impossible by coming up with a new and inventive way to communicate. This was overall a great learning experience as well as an eye opener on communication."

"Working on a project about Alzheimers really hit home because I have personally lost my sweet Grandmother to this awful disease. I thought I knew how common Alzheimers was until I actually started this project and dug deeper into the statistics and how many lives are affected by it daily. Doing research has given me another perspective outside of my own emotional experience that helps me become even more patient with those who suffer with this horrific disease.

-Denise

"I have a family member with Alzheimer’s and it is so sad to see him forget things or to forget how to get to specific places that have been traveled for years. It is astonishing on how many people are affected with this progressive disease from doing this project. I learned how to communicate better with these individuals. Helping people has always been my passion so I am very excited to share this website to those that have Alzheimer’s. I hope they enjoy these fun games and activities designed to help work and improve their brain function."

"This group project has not only taught me a lot about communicating with each other but it has also taught me about Alzihemers with the mini games that we were assigned to make and the meaning being each one. This project has also helped me better understand communication in ways of how important it may be to share ideas and thoughts with other people in a group. With everyone communicating it helps progress everyones assigned tasks throughout the project. This information will help me outside of the classroom in a way to not be afraid to speak your thoughts and ideas to one another, and to encourage each other to finish tasks."
